Nissan Leaf Chronicles - Being Green In A Gas Powered World

I took delivery of the 2012 Nissan Leaf on November 19th, 2012. I traded in my old gas hog of a 1991 Lexus LS400. I loved that car but the calculated monthly gas costs alone were more than my monthly payment for the Leaf. I guess I should have been more excited as I was facing additional maintenance costs on the Lexus. I had to replace the brakes, timing belt, tires, oil and do a transmission service. These costs that did not make sense to me since the car had over 175,000 miles on it and the transmission was not shifting well. It seemed like a "No Brainer" for me to get the Nissan Leaf.  I understood the limited range of the car. At least I thought I understood it. My logic included the sporadic use of my 2003 Aprilia SL1000R motorcycle. With the rain that we have here in the Pacific Northwest, I do mean Sporadic.
I am a Product Specialist at Advantage Nissan in Bremerton Washington. I help potential clients own and use these new technological automotive marvels. The technology that is found in today's vehicles is far beyond what many of us can comprehend or even imagine.
It is my goal to chronicle my experience or experiences with the Nissan leaf. I can tell you that to make a switch from a 100% gas powered vehicle to a 100% non-gas powered electric vehicle is indeed very dramatic. It is my hope that my decision, reasoning and logic behind leasing this electric car, makes sense in the long run. I really hope it does fit my lifestyle and does not make my life too difficult. More on this later but lastly, I hope that people who are interested in turning to green transportation will see in this blog, the trials and tribulations that I may or may not suffer. In doing so, I hope it can help them make a sound decision about driving an electric car, helping them to be green in a gas powered world.
